Goodwill Shana
Goodwill Shana is the Founder and Senior Pastor of Word of Life International Ministries. Founded in 1990 with four people, the ministry has grown to more than 15,000 members in 45 congregations across Zimbabwe, South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Lesotho and the United Kingdom. He has led the ministry for over 35 years, with a focus on discipleship, leadership development and ministry to the whole person—spirit, soul and body.
Goodwill Shana is a long-serving leader of the Evangelical Fellowship of Zimbabwe. He rose from provincial chairperson to national President, serving from 2007 to 2014. During his tenure, he contributed to the EFZ’s organisational growth and helped strengthen its visibility, credibility and influence as a national evangelical body.
He served two terms as Chairperson of the Zimbabwe Heads of Christian Denominations. In this role, he helped facilitate the development of The Zimbabwe We Want vision document and Church engagement in the national processes that contributed to the Government of National Unity and the adoption of Zimbabwe’s new Constitution.
At the continental level, he served two terms as President of the Association of Evangelicals in Africa. He contributed to the development of the AEA Plaza in Nairobi and helped strengthen the Association’s governance, leadership structures and organisational architecture.
Goodwill Shana served as Chair of the International Council of the World Evangelical Alliance from 2019 to 2025. He subsequently served as Executive Chair and Acting Secretary General from May 2024 to October 2025, leading the Alliance through a period of transition that culminated in the successful WEA General Assembly held in Seoul, South Korea, in October 2025.
He currently serves on the AEA Advisory Council, the AEA Health Commission and the Empowered21 Global Council. He also continues to serve the Zimbabwe Heads of Christian Denominations as an advisor and one of its Eminent Persons.
