HOPE 2026 Code of Conduct
Given recent cases of moral failures of Christian leaders, we would like to take seriously the issues of accountability and appropriate behaviour during any meetings convened by the European Evangelical Alliance, especially during its HOPE 2026 gathering.
All reports of inappropriate behaviour will be handled seriously and carefully with dignity and respect. We will take appropriate action and reserve the right to exclude individuals from any further EEA / HOPE gatherings.
Sexual Harassment Is Never Acceptable
Sexual harassment includes any unwanted sexual attention—verbal, physical, or visual—that causes distress, discomfort, or offence. This includes:
- Sexual comments or jokes
- Inappropriate staring or suggestive looks
- Unwanted touching or physical closeness
- Sharing explicit content or making inappropriate advances
We are called to treat one another in purity, holiness, and love (1 Timothy 5:1–2). Any form of sexual harassment contradicts the values of Christ and the purpose of this gathering.
If You Have a Concern At Any Time
If you feel unsafe, witness something concerning, or someone confides in you:
- Contact the HOPE 2026 Safeguarding Team (will be presented on the opening night) or another member of the HOPE 2026 planning or event management team.
- You will be listened to with care, and your concern will be handled confidentially and respectfully.
- Do not try to handle serious concerns alone—report and seek support.
“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility, value others above yourselves.” – Philippians 2:3
